In this session, we will explore the transformative potential of creating a student-centered learning ecosystem that integrates digital design studios, design thinking, and gamification.

In this presentation, I will outline the measures taken by ABA Oman International School to revisit our student council structure and operations, in order to increase student ownership, agency and voice and the positive effects this has, almost instantly, had on our post-pandemic climate. I will share how students have been coached in essential life-long skills of conversation, collaboration, creative thinking and project management in order to address their chosen issues.

By enticing students into our space with activities such as Books to Eat, Battle of the Books and our Cardboard Challenge, we place the library front and centre of all that is joyful in our students’ lives.

This presentation presents the three core enduring attributes that are intrinsically human: Connection, Critical Thinking and Curiosity, emphasises the importance of assessment in ensuring whole-school nurturing of these attributes, and provides frameworks for building truly empowering human assessments.
