As our students approached our 11th month of the online/hybrid journey, I began looking for ways to unite students around a common project where students of various levels of English ability could participate in meaningful ways.
Beginning with a few Grade 9/10 ICT courses, we used Google Applied Digital Skills platform as a starting point to create a Women’s History Website which would include voices and ideas from many corners of the school. We recruited parents, teachers, and students from upper-elementary through grade 12 to nominate women for us to spotlight on our website and morning announcements. The project grew to include other departments such as Art, Music, Dance, Language Arts, etc. We included technology such as podcasts, multiple apps, social media, most Google tools, and Augmented Reality through Apple’s Reality Composer.
I will share my resources and ideas as a launching pad for you to lead a uniting project around a cause your students are passionate about.
